[Doxycycline+ Tretinoin Progress] Progress Update! Happy March!

Doxycycline

Doxycycline has been irritating my stomach for quite awhile now, I always feel like I want to throw up after I eat, it doesn’t matter if it’s the meal that I took the food with, after every meal I feel nauseated. After my dermatologist visit, I have decrease from taking it twice a day to only in the morning; this has made me feel so much better.   So far I think Tretinoin is doing its thing so I haven’t gotten any huge pustules yet.

Tretinoin

I have increased the frequency of Tretinoin from every 4 days to every 2 days following up with Cerave moisturizing cream right away. MY SKIN HAS TRANSFORMED! I am in love.  My skin now has only 1~2 active spots the rest is just marks. If I get a flare up, the micro releasing power of my Oceanside Tretinoin flattens it over night even when I am not applying it that night. I am now a true believer. The overall texture of my skin has improved, I now could say I have 白里透红, or white, soft skin with a tint of red. My pore size has significantly reduced and I no longer have “parentheses” laugh lines. I am forever grateful.

Dermatologist  visit (2/19/14)

During my visit, my dermatologist and I are both very very happy of my progress so far, however I had several active pustules and she injected 5% cortisol shots to 7 spots.  It was quite painful but I did see the spots flatten over the course to the next 2 days. We have decided to decrease my Doxycycline from taking it twice a day to only in the morning. And my next visit is in mid-April. All is well and I am a happy girl.

[Doxycycline+ Tretinoin Progress] Dermatitis Flare up update!

First off, I want to have a update about my dermatitis flare up, the following picture is what my dermatitis looks like and that was 1/27/14.  Warning, it might look gnarly but it’s  educational!

The reason for my flare up is from being impatient and using the PC’s 2% Salicylic Acid toner on the nights that I am not using Tretinoin for a week. It was a BAD IDEA. The lesson that I’ve learned is that Tretinoin for me is enough to use alone.  Adding additional exfoliant is only going to counter the progress that I have already made for my skin and I will have dermatitis flare up.

However, I’ve found my secret weapon that will hide all my blemishes with little to none comedogenicity. The following is what I look like with my secret weapon on.  Same date (1/27/14), same camera, different lighting, with no filter.  I will dedicate a blog post with my lifesaver secret in the upcoming post. Stay tuned.
